Talk Radio Vs Huck & Mac

I think Rush & Co's 'jihad' has hurt Huckabee more than McCain.  Huckabee came back to the pack when a supporter (not a staffer, not an advisor) mouthed off about Rush.  Rush decided to make a big deal about it - lost a lot of respect for Rush over this.   Rush has since been taking a fair portion of his show to talk Huckabee down.

Talk radio hasn't lost anything, but these knuckleheads that have taken the talking points of critics and broadcast them have only hurt their own credibility.

Some examples?
Huckabee is a tax and spender -
Fact - he inherited a $200+ million deficit, raised taxes by $500 million (over 10 years), upgraded roads, improved schools, and left with a $850 million surplus.

Huckabee has flip-flopped on Immigration -
Fact - he advocated eligibility for a scholarship and now wants to build a border fence.  Yeah - that's a flip-flop.  Those are exactly opposite. NOT.

Huckabee released a convicted rapist that raped and killed again.  He even wrote a letter saying he wished for the killer's release -
I could not believe the number of times Sean Hannity read that on the air and did not read the end of the sentence where Huckabee denied the commutation because he felt supervision was in order. Even if Huckabee did suggest the parole board turn the guy loose, it was still the responsibility of the parole board to make the final decision.

Huckabee wants a theocracy -
he had 10-1/2 years in Arkansas to build a theocracy and never did.  He has emphasized the importance of faith in his campaign, but has never indicated he would force his beliefs on anyone else.  In fact he specifically has said he would not.

There are very few in this country that would say that biblical principles are bad for this country - yet they freak out when a guy won't run from his faith.  It's totally disingenuous because it's not about a fear of a theocracy, but a bigotry toward those of faith.

If you saw three young black men coming down an alley at night, would you feel differently if you knew they were coming from a bible study or church service?

I respect Rush, Sean, & Co. for what they have accomplished, but information is too readily available for them to tell half-truths that denigrate a candidate.  By the way - Neal Boortz has said he could support Huckabee or Romney.

Why Huckabee Gets Free Air Time

Rush is all in a lather this am about the MSM supporting Huckabee because they want to defeat conservatism.  While I have no doubt that most in the MSM would like to see conservatism greatly diminished, it is not why Huckabee is all over the air waves.  One, the media loves a story - when Huckabee was coming up in the polls he was a story so they put him on the air.  When Huckabee's numbers started to decline because of Romney 'contrast' ads they had him on as well.  Two, he's easy on the eyes and ears (think Ron Paul - yikes!).  And three, he seeks to get the time on every radio and TV show he can get on.  He's working hard to make his money stretch - and people like that.

When McCain started rising in the polls he was the story - the press doesn't care who it is, they only care if they can build a story around it.  Polls going up - fine.  Polls going down - fine.  Can we get an entertaining piece of video or audio - get it.  Americans love the underdog story and news agencies know it.

Rush is now saying that Huckabee is in favor of amnesty - which he is not - based on his advocating scholarship eligibility for children of illegal aliens (but forgot to include the provision that application for legal immigration was part of the deal) and then goes on to say all the terrible ramifications of amnesty.  Rush's dishonesty is apalling - there are so many other things to rake Huckabee over the coals about (CEO salaries, closing Gitmo, and even scholarship eligibility for the children of illegals - but do it honestly for Pete's sake.
